TAP 2013

This year is a year of transition for my art.
I am planning to take some time off from exhibiting to develop
new work, specifically larger ceramic sculpture.
The Artist Project is my first step towards this goal,
and the last show until the fall. I am beyond excited
to share 3 new pieces – almost life size busts!
I’m truly proud of the new work and cannot wait to discuss
it with you all. You can find me in booth #412.

FAMILY TREE

Kelly Grace and I have been busy in the studio creating a visual story of a very unique family. It starts with a very peculiar couple named Mary Jane and Arthur. When Arthur was growing up he thought he was the only boy in his class born with antlers until he met Mary Jane in his teen years. He discovered she was unique like him as she was the only girl in the school with rabbit ears. It was love at first sight, then came marriage and later four kids.

The end result is a collaborative art exhibition & installation. Our collection of artwork and
Labour of Love's owner's curated room gives a glimpse into this strange family's lives - a family tree in their living room, featuring portraits of their precious moments, babies & ancestors.

The 22 pieces of art are a combination of pigment transfer print making, painting and sculpting.

LABOUR OF LOVE

It truly was a labour of love as Kelly Grace and I spent
the day setting up our art installation "Family Tree"
at Toronto's lovely Labour of Love Shoppe.  The shop is celebrating
it's 2nd birthday & opening a new mini gallery space.
We are excited to see you all there tomorrow night for the opening!
Here is a sneak peek at the 22 new art works...

LITTLE RED

Little Red and the mushroom path
10.5x13.5x4.5"

Little Red walked home through the forest as the evening neared. She walked through her favourite path, where she always felt safe. She called it “the mushroom path” , because it was covered in red mushrooms. It was a strange spot as this was the only one in the whole forest with these particular mushrooms. Little Red always felt like she was being watched over when she walked there. She imagined that the mushrooms were little elves, her little guardians keeping her safe. She imagined catching one in action, one clumsy elf who forgot to “play” mushroom. Little did she know how close to the truth her fantasies really are. But that is a story for a different time…
