As I've mentioned in earlier blogs, I am now creating my art
alongside three talented local artists, Kelly Grace,
Shaun Downey & Kyle Stewart
in a new studio at Queen & Carlaw in Toronto.

Join us for our official studio opening 
this Thursday, December 8th, 10am -9pm. 
There will be art for sale + music + drinks + yummy snack
+ tons of good times. It’s my way of thanking you all for 
your continuing love & support.

Directions: Please note, there is no street entry into the studio!
There will be signs to lead you to the opening from the street.
But just in case… Head west on the alley at the south end of the
building. The single, unmarked door between number
“105” & “106” leads to our studio. Head down the stairs, follow
the hall left, we are straight ahead at the very end of the hall.

It's a super special night for us, we hope you will be able to join the fun!

I got a note along with a photo of a bride's bouquet from the very lovely Andrea. About a year ago Andrea & Alec got one of the limited edition, full size, canvas prints of "When I ride my bike..." for their home. Their wedding photographer, and I quote "was obsessed with the print" and so it made it to their wedding photos. I really enjoy Van Gijn's photography, she takes many artsy & romantic shots, not your typical wedding photography. Stunning!

Last week I had the honour of posing for a portrait for the talented Harvey Chan. Diguised as a day of creative banter & support, was a day I got to spend with one of my illustration idols. Harvey's new project consists of 30 portrait studies of people from his personal and professional life. Sitting in Harvey's cozy, sun filled studio I found myself face to face with 20 portraits in various stages of completion. In the beautifully painted collection, familiar faces from my own present and past surprised and delighted me. You can see the finished portrait of me, along with the others, at Harvey's upcoming show in September. I will keep you posted on the details...

Designer-brother-artist-sister-team tackle a project challenge of utmost importance - painting an awesome mural in the kids' room. The swirl & heart tree was designed by my brother for his wedding invitations. It is only appropriate that this beautiful design and the love it symbolizes would find a place in my niece's & nephew's room.

I then picked tiny parts from the three Katazome-Shi printed papers which inspired me the most, and created small worlds for the characters to live in. The original paintings of the characters as well as prints of their moments in the beautiful scenes will be for sale at the show. Here are two characters & their worlds.

9 MINUTES ON TV

Last year I was asked to be interviewed on a local Toronto Polish TV show called "Na Luzie" (Laid Back). I was very happy with the care and class with which the show's crew composed my 9 minutes of tv fame. Now YouNxt (a network dedicated to connecting, promoting and advancing Polish-Canadian talent ) has teamed up with Na Luzie to bring you some of the most interesting and entertaining segments, from the past, produced by Host and Reporter Anna Piszczkiewicz.

World meet Beast Girl, my newest pride and joy. The character was inspired by a photo, snapped accidentally last summer, by my boyfriend. He took the picture, unintentionally, while a bunch of us were waiting for him to set the ‘auto shooting’ and run over to take a group shot. The photo captured my teenage cousin struggling to control her wild hair as the wind blew at her back. I wasn’t expecting the photo to be there, but the moment I saw it I knew I had to use it. You can see the finished painting at TAP.

Every year I go camping with some of my most favourite people in the world. One of them is my brother Piotrek who, after a few days in 'the wild', gets a little creative and outlandish with his picture taking techniques. This year he created an enchanted world; dark and completely otherworldly with its prominent starry sky and coral-like trees. He even captured two of its fairy-like inhabitants dancing in the night. So inspiring.

The Beaches Arts and Crafts Show

Join me this weekend as I try to talk art and brave the elements at the same time. This should be interesting...

The Beaches Arts and Crafts Show is celebrating its 25th year, so you know it's going to be bigger and better than ever. What's great about this show is that you can make a whole day out of this event. It's located at the beautiful Kew Gardens Park right on the lake. You can grab some ice cream, check out amazing art work, buy yourself something nice, go for a walk along the beach and catch some sun - all in one spot. Sounds like the perfect summer day to me! The forecast for the weekend is perfect, so come out and have some fun in the sun.

Kaye's Nursery

During the spring OOAK, I spend a long time picking out a few paintings with a lady for her soon-to-be-baby. I was very flattered and couldn't wait for the promised picture of the nursery. A few days ago I received a very sweet e-mail with a few photos.

This is one of the classiest and sweetest nurseries I've ever seen! I'm so proud that my paintings are a part of it!
